Pearl, MS – When the Mississippi State Board of Education approved accountability grades at their board meeting this morning, Pearl Public School District earned an A rating for the 2024-2025 school year.

“We are proud to once again be recognized as an ‘A’ district,” stated Mr. Chris Chism, Superintendent of Schools. “This achievement reflects the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the support of our families, and community.”

Mr. Chism noted several key highlights from the district’s most recent assessment data.

Since 2022, Pearl Public School District has recorded measurable gains in academic proficiency, with English Language Arts increasing by 9%, Mathematics by 5%, and U.S. History by 3%.

The district continues to rank among the highest in Mississippi for graduation outcomes, maintaining a graduation rate of 95.3%. Additionally, Pearl Public School District holds the eighth-highest graduation rate in the state for students with disabilities at 84%.

In addition to receiving an A rating as a district, Pearl High School earned an A rating for the third year in a row. Pearl Lower Elementary, Northside Elementary, Pearl Upper Elementary, and Pearl Junior High School each earned a B rating.

“On behalf of the school board, I would like to express how proud we are of our students,” said School Board President Mrs. Sondra Odom. “Continued success in the classroom is dependent upon the hard work of the teachers, administrators, parents, and everyone who plays a role in producing positive outcomes. Great test scores don’t just happen. Committed and relentless classroom instruction, carried out every day and sometimes navigating obstacles, prepares our students for success.” She continued, “We celebrate this achievement with our Pearl Public School District family and community.”

Mr. Chism added, “In Pearl, we believe excellence is not an accident—it’s the result of commitment, collaboration, and a relentless focus on doing what’s best for our students.”
